Brookwood Secure Center Chiller Replacement

Scope:

Performed for NYS OGS, this project replaced the existing 120-ton chiller at the Brookwood Secure Center in Claverack, NY. The old unit, over 20 years old and using costly R-22 refrigerant, could no longer meet the facility’s cooling demands.

Highlights:

Mechanical: Installed two new 120-ton chillers with scroll compressors and remote condensers for easier maintenance and improved efficiency.
Scheduling: Phased work during limited winter shutdowns to ensure uninterrupted cooling by April 1st.
Technology: 3D Revit modeling minimized field changes and construction delays.
Serviceability: Design focused on reliability and ease of maintenance, addressing past challenges due to the facility’s remote location.
